The founder's problem
Peter Halvorsen spent fifteen years as an installer for someone else. He watched customers get sold equipment they didn't need, quoted prices that grew mysteriously, and left with systems that never ran to spec. In 2004, at forty-two, he took out a second mortgage and started Northern Ember with one truck and one commitment.
Twenty-one years later, the company has 54 technicians and runs daily crews across 40+ cities. What hasn't changed: the same three-page promise on every quote.
